Camp Rydell FAQs

Q: What is this year’s theme and what does that mean?

A: We enter the world of GREASE. It means the vibe of camp is all leaning into the music and storylines that inspire our weekend.

Q: Is the whole weekend 50s GREASE music?

A: No! We are in the worlds of Grease and Grease 2. The classes and prom will be all types of music. The routines are songs from both movies.

Q: Do I need to have a certain level of dance experience to attend?

A: LITERALLY NOT AT ALL! The Angela Trimbur Dance Academy ethos is that everyone is a dancer – camp is open to all stages of confidence, all levels of practice.

Q: Do I need to have taken an Angela Trimbur Dance class in order to register for camp?

A: Nope! We can’t wait to meet you. Excited that many who don’t even live in NYC to take the classes are able to attend.

Q: Who is camp for?

A: We are recreating nostalgia childhood sleepaway camps, hosted at a charming girls’ camp in the Poconos Mountains. Camp Rydell is curated for women 21-50 years old.

Q: Wait, where is camp this year?

A: We will be approximately 2 hours outside of NYC in the gorgeous Pocono Mountains. For those who attended our 2024 Flashdance Camp or 2025 Dance TV Camp, we’re returning to Timber Tops! It’s too perfect.

Q: I randomly live nearby and wouldn’t need to bunk at camp. Are there day passes available?

A: No, the only way to participate in camp is to have registered for the full experience! Which includes being away from home and family…sleeping in a bunk with others! 100% in or bust!

Q: Will transportation be provided?

A: We are exploring booking a charter bus you can register for separately, or we provide a community board to find a carpool!

Q: What if I have to leave camp on Sunday instead of Monday? Do I still have to pay the full amount?

A: Yes, camp is all three nights. If some campers have to arrive late or leave early we will miss that time with you, but the registration fee doesn’t change. There’s no flexibility with our group rates within the camp, so everyone regardless of the amount of time they’re at camp needs to pay the full fee.

Q: What time should we plan to arrive on Friday? And depart on Monday?

A: We are tentatively kicking things off with check-in beginning at 6pm on Friday, but if you have to arrive later all good! Once we send the final schedule if you think you’ll be arriving after dinner, just make sure you eat on the way. And check-out is expected to be around 11am on Monday.

Q: Do you need volunteers?

A. Ah thank you but no volunteers are needed we are ready for you! Please register and enjoy the camp experience!

Q: What is included?

A:

  • lodging for three nights (your own bunk bed top and bottom)
  • breakfast lunch and dinner
  • official camp swag
  • movie night
  • dance classes taught by Angela with her original choreography
  • bonding exercises
  • s’mores campfire
  • Beauty School Makeovers
  • carnival games
  • swimming in the heated pool
  • high quality photos of memories
  • low-key optional talent show
  • and a Slightly Guided PROM led by Angela!!!

Q: What do I need to bring to camp?

A: We will provide a fitted sheet, you’ll bring everything else you’ll need (blankets, pillow/pillowcase, towels). Pack clothes for dance class (including sneakers and knee pads!) which can lean into the theme or our beloved 80s dance leos, a bathing suit, and whatever Grease character looks or 50s & 60s world you want to sport. (You can go all out or just bring cateye glasses – whatever feels most fun for you!) We recommend bringing cute items to deck out your cabin with your new bunkmates (no incense or candles tho). It will be mid-September in the mountains, so please keep that in mind and bring warm clothes, especially for evenings. We’ll send a packing list to campers closer to camp.

Q: I have a friend who signed up too. Can we bunk together??

A: You’ll be able to put in your rooming requests when you register! No guarantees but we will try our very hardest.

Q: I’m flying into NYC to come to camp but how can I get there, I don’t know anyone (yet)?

A: We’re looking into a charter bus (you will receive information after registering for camp), or last year some people rented a car and drove together from the airport. We’ll also share a ride board if you are looking to hop into a carpool.

Q: I have dietary restrictions. Can these be accommodated?

A: Yes! We will be collecting that info during registration to let their chef know.

Q: Can I bring my own snacks?

A: You may bring your own snacks, but they must be kept in the kitchen and not in bunks due to the wildlife in the area.

Q: OK YES I WANT TO COME HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR MY SPOT AT CAMP?!

A: YAY! TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!

Q: Money is tight this year and I haven’t been saving for camp like I planned on doing eek … do you offer payment plans?

A: Yes! Yes! Totally understand. At checkout you can select PayPal, Klarna, or Afterpay to pay in installments (up to 2 years!).

Q: Is there a talent show this year?

A: Yes! After some deep meditation I have decided there WILL be a talent show this year after all! It will be on Sunday night…more low key. Not mandatory. Sign up at camp, Spotify links only. Same stage same spotlight….but very chill. No solos and under 2 min. Our MAIN EVENT is the Slightly Guided Dance Prom on Saturday.

Q: How do I find people to do the talent show with?

A: Here is a board to connect with others! (There are two tabs, one for carpool and one for talent show!) Since it’s so chill and not mandatory, don’t feel any pressure to do so! No submission deadlines this year.

Q: Do I need anything in particular for this year’s theme?

A: Angela’s vision this year is that we look like we are authentically in a different decade. No pressure of course, but going thrifting to get a couple 1950s outfits would be FUN. Pick a character from the movie for inspo! A neck kerchief like Frenchie? ______________ Obvs black leather jacket, Sandy post makeover look, Danny’s, Friday night we watch the movie it’s like those sleepover looks.  And of course 50s/60s or your fave era PROM looks. Here she made a Pinterest board for inspo!

Q: What if it’s sold out??

A: Sign up for the waitlist and we will see what we can do, fingers crossed tight!

Q: Is my ticket refundable if something were to come up?

A: Camp is non-refundable. If you can no longer attend and know someone who can join in your place, please email their name to events@angelatrimburdance.com for information on finalizing the ticket swap. You can also post an IG story that you are selling and tag @angelatrimburdance and we will reshare as those looking to buy always have eyes on the IG. We will prob have a waitlist and if you can’t go we can try to cupid but no guaranteeeeez, baby!
